A few months ago, I was at an event and was drawn to the gorgeous display of books. I struck up a conversation with the ladies working there, and wouldn't you know they were HER books. She was the author! In our brief conversation I learned that this lady not only had a great name (Janet!) she also had a great vision! Author Janet Beasley has created an amazing world in her new book series, Hidden Earth Series. In the first three books, the Maycly (MAY CLY like fly) Trilogy we see the world of Maycly, created by a loving and all powerful wizard named SUL. We also meet Iona and her family who live on Earth. To really say a whole lot more would be to give the story away.
However, as not only a book lover, but a Language Arts and Reading teacher, these books are a MUST read! Not only did I breeze through them, I used them in my classroom. I had a few students who really excelled at additional and independant work. I gave them Maycly to read and they were hooked. The descriptions are so vivid you feel like your right there in this amazing world. The creatures are amazing, a cobination of real and fantasy, and the characters are so engaging. There's even a book availalble with just the illustrations, that engaged every kid I showed it too and especially the ones who were interested in drawing, and a cookbook because who wouldn't want to try some of the goodies talked about it the book?!? My students were begging for more Maycly reading and activities. The Maycly trilogy is a classic story of good and evil with an engaging twist.
