LEGOLAND Florida is a Gem in our Own Backyard

By Amanda Swank, publisher of Macaroni KID Winter Haven - Davenport, FL October 22, 2023

Are you and/or your children fans of LEGOs? If so, a visit to LEGOLAND Florida Resort Theme Park is in order! What makes this theme park even better? It’s right here in Winter Haven! What a fabulous opportunity to have in our own backyard.

Legoland is a fun family-friendly theme park geared toward children up to age 12.

Help defend the battle of Bricksburg by spraying the evil Duplo alien invaders in the Battle of Bricksburg water ride, captain your own boat in the Coastguard Academy, and get your very own Lego driver’s license at the Ford Driving School. There is so much to do at LEGOLAND for all ages (even the grown ups!).

Admission to LEGOLAND is fairly affordable and you can often find coupons or promo codes for reduced price ticket offers. Season passes are also very affordable, and include perks like free parking, discounts, and more.

Small coolers are allowed into the park, which is great to bring snacks and water for those who do not wish to purchase in the park. You can also exit and re-enter the park if you want/need to do so. If you choose to purchase food and drink in the park, there are plenty of options to choose from! From pizza to burgers, funnel cakes to sandwiches, restaurants and food trucks located throughout the park offer not only a reprieve from the Florida heat, but also great grub.

Did I mention that there is also a water park? That’s right! For a small fee you can upgrade your LEGOLAND tickets to include water park entry. It’s big enough to have fun, but small enough to allow the smaller kiddos to have just as much fun as the bigger ones.

We spent two full days in LEGOLAND riding as many rides and doing as many activities as we could. Some of our favorite rides included:

The Battle of Bricksburg

Ford Driving School

Imagination Zone

Lost Kindgom Adventure

The Great Lego Race

One of the best things about the park is that it is a manageable size and the lines were not long at all. We visited in late August, so it  wasn’t the “prime season”. I imagine that in the summer, when people are vacationing from around the country and world, lines do get longer. But we were very pleasantly surprised that there were no wait times in line. We got to hop right on each ride we wanted to ride.

Another one of our favorite activities was the water sports show! See the young men and women doing amazing water skiing tricks, and meet some of your favorite LEGO characters.

Overall, this is one of our favorite parks we have visited. So much so that we are planning to purchase season passes. It’s convenient, close-by, the perfect size, and offers something for the entire family.
